Saint John

American Freemasons dedicate their lodges to the holy Saints John. Saint John the Baptist and Saint John the Evangelist are the patron saints of American Freemasonry. While Freemasonry is nonsectarian the dedication to the Saints John is retained from the tradition of the stone mason guilds/lodges of northern England which modern Freemasonry is the descendant.
"John the Baptist was zealous, while John the Evangelist was learned, and by picking both of them as patron saints, Masons symbolically united both passion and reason."

The artwork was inspired by a stained glass window in Chester Cathedral in Chester England.
